gear. **This isn't me or anyone that I know, I just found this on the internet so those who are reading this that have no clue what MOPP gear is can see...it's oh so fun...and hot. So needless to say, when I'd finally come crawling home each morning I just wanted to take a shower, sit on my butt for a few minutes then go to bed. But I actually got a great nights sleep last night so now it's time to tell what is going on with me.And that is...not much. Really the only thing that I have going for me right now is school starting as soon as I get home from Washington towards the end of the month and the possibility of going to ALS. ALS (Airman Leadership School) is some 6 week class that everyone in the Air Force has to take before they can put on Staff Sergeant (E-5). I went into work on Tuesday, I think it was, and an NCO mentioned to me the higher ranking NCOs were talking of sending me to ALS and asked if I was ready to go. I really don't want to go to ALS anytime soon because it will take me away from school, and that would suck in my opinion. But that was the only time anything like that was mentioned to me so who knows what is going to happen with that.
The thing with ALS is usually Senior Airmen (E-4) are the ones that go since it's required to put on SSgt, but usually they have a line number to put on SSgt already. Well, I tested for Staff back at the end of May and I just found out that the list of who made Staff will be released on August 20th. So on the morning of Aug 20 I will find out if I made E-5 or not. I really don't want to because I don't want to deal with the extra distractions that would come from putting on a new stripe and becoming an NCO. I just want to spend my time going to school so I can get into that PA program. But I didn't really have to do all that well on the tests I took in May to make it, so I'm getting a little anxious about the test results. Sure, it would be another $200 a month or so but I would end up missing out on a lot of time to go to school cause I'd have to do things like go to ALS. But I'll find out on 20 August if I made it or not.
